Danial Aziz Chaudhry

Danial Aziz Chaudhry was born on February 25,  1965 in Lahore, Punjab. He has been elected  as MNA for his third term on a PML(Q) ticket. He  currently holds the portfolio of Chairman, National  Reconstruction Bureau. A businessman and agriculturist by profession,  he completed an M.A degree in Environment in 1988 from Boston University, U.S.A. and has travelled extensively across different regions including U.S.A., Europe, Asia, etc.  He has been member of the District Council Narowal from 1991-93.  He was also awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for Meritorious Public Service. Married with a son, his hobbies include hunting and riding.

Daniyal Aziz (Urdu/Punjabi: دانیال عزیز) is a Pakistani politician affiliated with thePakistan Muslim League (N) who is currently a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. Previously, he was a member of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) and had been elected as a member of the National Assembly in 1997 from the NA-116 (Narowal-II) constituency and again in2002. He has also previously served as the chairman of the National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB), an institution of the Government of Pakistan.

During the 2008 general elections, Aziz was defeated by an independent candidate, Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq Anees. His defeat was attributed to growing unpopularity of the ruling PML (Q) and anti-Musharraf sentiments among the masses.

He is also chairman of the Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment. He is a Boston University graduate who entered politics, following in the footsteps of his father.

Daniyal Aziz is son of Anwar Aziz Chaudhry. Anwar Aziz had served as the federal minister for food and is a famous politician in Punjab. Daniyal Aziz belongs to a Gujjar family of Shakargarh. According to the Daily Times

Danny, as he is known, is already somewhat of a veteran having served as an MNA during Nawaz Sharif’s last tenure as prime minister. Danny is the product of an American mother and a Punjabi father and has proven to be as hardworking as he is ambitious. Having spent several years jetting between the US (where his mother now resides) and Lahore, he finally decided to enter into the local politics of his father’s village in Tehsil Shakargarh a few years ago. His decision to join politics was a result of his close ties to his father, Chaudhry Aziz, a self-made political heavyweight from the Narowal district. While his siblings are well settled in the US, Danny turned down the American dream to pursue his political ambitions in Pakistan. Articulate and bright, he recently resigned from the National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) where he was extremely active. His invaluable input at the bureau has won him many friends in the establishment. Danny, whose family has done a lot for the people of Shakargarh over the years, is emerging as the likely winning candidate from NA-116 Narowal II as PML-QA candidate.
